I think the Kerblam and Punjabb writers are on board again too. That I'm really excited for.
Surprised were not seeing any writers from the Moffat and RTD era still.
I'm not — I think it's clear that RTD and Moffatt had their own pool of writers and Chibnall is clearly trying to steer clear of the same type of stories they did. Plus, unlike with RTD and Moffatt, I think Chibnall stated that they are using more of a writer's room method.
Yeah, there are usually more people involved in the writer's rooms than what is ultimately announced for the show. One writer had to drop out in series 11, forcing Chibnall to write what became "Tsrunga Conundrum".
Cultbox did report a couple of months back that other writers had been part of the series 12 writers room, but it doesn't appear as if they made it on to the official list.
Chibs was an RTD/Moffat era writer himself...that counts right?

Read the comic strip in today's Doctor Who Magazine, loved seeing the floating head cameos of River, Sarah Jane, Susan, Barbara, Missy etc...only two male companions represented though, that was Ian and Jamie.
The ending will only make sense if you follow the continuity of the comic strip, but the final few panels had me squealing, I get the feeling the strip's writer is a Doctor/Graham 'shipper like I am.
No, it isn't a kiss or anything, it's just The Doctor becoming visibly shaken and upset over the nature of a creature she's helping and finding comfort in Graham's arms

Children In Need was heartwarming, Jodie, Mandip and Tosin surprising a girl diagnosed with depression. Jodie handed the little tyke a screwdriver. That girl just melted into Jodie's arms.
Latest whispers are that the series premieres on New Years' Day with an ambitious opening which forms part of two connected episodes (may or may not be a two-parter), and that the series is returning to Saturday nights.
Sweet. I can go back to watching it first thing on Sunday.
And ambitious opening is good. I thought "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" was pretty ambitious, but it's villain was a bit too lame.

Lenny Henry and Stephen Fry confirmed to star in Series 12. Surprisingly, I thought Fry had already guest starred in an episode, but apparently not.
Fry had a script written for season 2, then it got pushed to 3, and then it was shelved.
Not Three Laws compliant. You might be thinking of the now non-canon webcast 'Death Comes To Time' where Fry played The Minister of Chance.

I don't think anyone, ever, is thinking of Death Comes to Time.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Lenny Henry is a massive doctor who fan, and has even plaid the character a few times.
What, like dressed him up in full tartan? Is he the one who got the Fourth Doctor that kilt?
I know you mean "played", but I'm not passing that up.
And the series will premiere New Years' Day 2020
If you're wondering where the Christmas specials have gone...we'll apparently get one next year
And, putting to bed all doubt
...Chibnall confirms he's staying and will produce series thirteen

Nice. I like that they are just jumping into 2020 without waiting.
The only problem with that article is this:
Hmm, apparently the New Years' Day confirmation was removed from the article, and it's back to "early 2020"...maybe they wanted the trailer to announce the air date?
I kinda dropped off of watching Doctor Who sometime into Moffat's run, but I'm curious: Has the return of the Valeyard been used as a plot yet? Or anything like it? He was the one Doctor Who villain left that I really wanted to see revamped.
Kaze ni Nare!Aside from a couple of name drops, The Valeyard has never appeared in the modern series. He's used plenty of times in the Big Finish audio dramas though, and it was recently established he had fought in the time war.
Happy 56th Doctor Who.
Kicking off the big day, we have news of two more guest stars, one of whom has appeared in Classic Who before!
Robert Glenister (Caves of Androzani) and Goran Visnjic (E.R)
Thank God. Chibnall isn't a bad Showrunner, but his scripts were probably the worst thing about Series 11. And every episode that didn't have him involved was stellar. Hopefully this means most of Series 12 will be stellar too.
