• Hilarious in Hindsight: When Chick is talking how after the war the USA and Japan will became allies and friends, not even he believes that joke...
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
  • Many reviewers criticized the fact the windtalkers the film is named after are relegated to supporting characters, while the lead is played by a white actor.
  • Ox and Whitehorse are played by talented actors who have some good chemistry together and might have been able to carry the movie themselves, but they don't get nearly as much screentime as most fans would have liked.
