YMMV / Upstream Color

• Critical Dissonance: Slightly. It has a high 86% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes but a mediocre 69% audience score, which isn't surprising given its arcane concept.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Upstream Color becomes a much harder watch when you find out that Amy Seimetz and Shane Carruth broke up acrimoniously and she has accused him of emotional, mental, and physical abuse. Carruth has denied these claims.
• Squick: Pretty much anything involving the parasite, but especially:
  • Worms visibly crawling underneath Kris' skin.
  • Kris trying and failing to cut them out with a knife.
  • The drowned, infected piglets decomposing underwater.
