YMMV / Total Drama: "Walk Like an Egyptian - Part 1"

Go To

  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • Ezekiel reaches the finish line last alongside Izzy. While the latter is correctly placed on the third team (Team Amazon), Chris randomly adds Ezekiel to the first team (Team Victory). Even counting the fact that Ezekiel was allowed to come back in Duncan's place doesn't help the argument, as Duncan would've also been put on Team Amazon as he reached the finish line alongside Courtney and Gwen. Ezekiel missing a chance to be placed on a team made almost entirely of girls robbed us of interesting storylines, considering his reputation as a sexist. He could've gained a huge Character Development (something already shown in the Island special where his attitude towards girls changed) and he could've potentially been Heather's only ally at the start of the season, considering he'd likely be the team's next target for elimination after her, if not even the first one before her.
      • Assuming Team Victory would've consisted of simply the first six members as opposed to gaining the last contestant for some reason, Alejandro would've been on Team Victory, Cody would've been on Team Chris (giving Sierra no reason to switch), and Ezekiel would've been correctly placed on Team Amazon, replacing Cody as its sole male member. There's a lot of potential with this version of teams.
        • With Ezekiel not being able to lose Team Victory's stick, no one would've been eliminated in the second episode and Ezekiel potentially would've never turned feral as Team Amazon's long winning streak could've potentially allowed him to feel like he succeeded at redeeming himself for his poor performance in Island, giving him no reason to stow away on the plane (among other of his potential storylines mentioned above).
        • Alejandro would've either have to eventually compete solo as Team Victory's Sole Survivor (thus the season's three teams format would've likely never ended before the merge, considering Alejandro is the main antagonist and a capable contestant, meaning he'd likely survive even on his own) or adjust his strategy and target Team Chris instead.
    • With Tyler being jealous of Lindsay's attraction to Alejandro, this episode set him up as one of the first people to not trust Alejandro. In fact, he'd be the second person, only after Heather, as we can't be sure when Noah started suspecting him (the audience gets the earliest hints of his distrust in the seventh episode). However, as of the next episode, he's acting friendly with him and even becomes his most loyal ally later on, to the point of still being by his side by the end of the season. This wasted the opportunity of Tyler being one of a few threats for Alejandro, including a potential alliance with Heather (likely only possible if Tyler had lasted till the merge) and/or Noah (potentially eventually including Owen) against him.
