  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Even if Rachel was totally innocent and Anna was the psycho all along, was she really a nice person to begin with? She unambiguously partook in infidelity and also dreamed about the day her elderly charges would die.
    • There's also the fact that she refers to Alex as a bitchy teenager to Anna which is in horrible taste considering that Alex has died and Anna loved her. Guess Rachel has never heard of Never Speak Ill of the Dead.
    • Rachel's apparent antagonism could have stemmed from nervousness about Anna. She seemed aware of the true nature of Anna's problems, while Steven appeared to be in denial about them. At the very least, she knows that Anna is very predisposed to hate her, and all her attempts to befriend Anna seem to backfire.
    • Since Steven never expresses any guilt over cheating on his wife with Rachel, he can come off less like a concerned father struggling to reconnect with his daughter and more like an uncaring bastard who may even be happy his wife died, thus allowing him to more easily be with his mistress.
  • Too Dumb to Live: A distraught (and delusional) young woman comes to your police station claiming a woman named Rachel is trying to kill her. Do you investigate the claim? Call the doctor/psychologist? Alert any other authorities? Of course you don't. Just drug her and kidnap her and leave her alone in a creepy house with Rachel. And Rachel just goes along with this.
