• Captain Obvious Reveal:
  • It's pretty obvious before it's revealed that Helen is Sam's wife, given that her story would be completely unrelated to the previous three episodes unless she were. In addition to that, Sam mentions that he has two living daughters and that his family life has been rough. When Helen shows up, she's got two mixed-race daughters (indicating that their father is white), conspicuously never mentions her husband, says that her year has been particularly rough, and seems bizarrely insistent on staying in Osea.
  • It's also pretty obvious that Jess is working against Sam to keep him on Osea, and will eventually betray him (as she does at the end of episode 3), given the way that she follows him around the island and is usually the person who distracts him from leaving.
