YMMV / The Fruit Basket

Go To

  • Les Yay: Maeja and Gedda seem to always be holding hands, putting their arms around each other, and staring deeply into each other's eyes. Hmm...
  • Tear Jerker: Try to listen to “Lonely” without at least crying a little, I dare you.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: The multiple references to chopping up cucumbers, who are presumably just as sentient as other fruits and vegetables, have quite dark implications for a kids show!
    • The song Immi Best contains a double entendre. In this song, Immi Pineapple repeatedly describes himself as “holdugur”, which can be translated as fleshy and/or fat, but holdugur can also refer to having a girthy… ahem, banana…
    • (2005) An example from later on in the stage show - Eva calls Immi “kúkurimmi” which DOES approximately translate to “poopy Immi”, but can equally be translated to mean “sh*tty rimjob”
    • (1998) Guffi tells Poddi that he is facing the wrong way… using a term that can double as Icelandic derogatory slang for a gay person.
