YMMV / The Flash 2014 S 2 E 16 Trajectory

• Alternative Character Interpretation: The revelation that Velocity 9 caused Eliza to develop a Split Personality raises a lot of interesting questions about the relationship between Zoom and Jay.
• Ass Pull: As usual, Writers Cannot Do Math. The idea of Barry having to reach Mach 3.3 falls flat when one remembers that he reached Mach 1 in the very first episode.
• Narm:
  • The sheer artificiality of Wally's line "Are you from far away?", like he knows he's setting up Jesse's stock response.
  • The team's reaction that Zoom is Jay, they act like it's such a deep personal betrayal, but Jay barely interacted with any of them that the audience doesn't have the same reaction.
    • Jay being Zoom is already an Internal Reveal for the audience, contributing even less to the dramatic tension.
  • Barry's anguished scream of betrayal at the end.
    • Barry smashing the case to get at Jay's helmet was pretty silly too. Presumably it the case had an opening somewhere.
• Romantic Plot Tumor: The romance between Iris and Scott, made much more egregious by the fact that Barry and Iris had a Ship Tease moment very early in the episode.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Considering that the Supergirl and Flash crossover occurs the week after this episode aired, many assumed that this episode would lead into the crossover, but alas it does not. Instead, the next episode does...which airs the day after the crossover.
