• Tear Jerker: Some of the deaths are just brutal and undeserving, that can drive almost all of the readers to watery eyes.
  • Sokka's death is a very iconic one in the story. Considering how Sokka's original plan was to kill himself if he and Katara are the last tributes standing is sad enough. But the fact that he died with Katara not being able to help him in time is heartbreaking. Also doubled up in how hard Katara had worked just so she can stay by her brother is heartwrenching enough.
  • Surprisingly enough, some people think that Ty Lee's death was probably sadder than Sokka's. Considering the second installment when Katara meets Ty Lee's family makes it even sadder since her family were in poverty and is from one of the more good-willed Fire Provinces that genuinely view Katara as a hero rather than a villain.
