• Magnificent Bastard: Jack Polo, the Yattering's intended target. By all accounts an ordinary pickle salesman, he demonstrates an air of complete mellowness, refusing to acknowledge anything that the imp does to drive him mad to the point where he renounces God, even killing his pets and driving his wife to cheat on him with his best friend. When the imp tries to drive him to madness while his beloved daughter Amanda visits, he keeps driving the imp more and more mad with frustration, until it finally clutches his hand to keep him from walking out the door, violating the Treaty of Job and rendering the imp his eternal slave. After this happens, Jack reveals to Amanda that he knew all along that the Yattering was sent by Beelzebub to take his soul, revealing that its master wanted him damned so badly because his mother (and her grandmother) was a witch. As such, he only pretended to act so utterly carefree to drive the Yattering itself insane by turning its own gambit against it, and he ends the episode as the proud new owner of the now-enslaved Yattering, not even bothered by the fact that enslaving the demon means he's definitely going to Hell.
