• Broken Base: Reaction to the character of Charlie was decidedly mixed. Felicia Day is charming and a genre icon and the character won plenty of fans, but Charlie struck many people as something between an Author Avatar for writer Robbie Thompson or a straight-up Mary Sue. She seemed designed as a female geek character who, being a lesbian, would not become a love interest for one of the Winchesters (fair) but also a mixed bag of geeky tropes. All of that said, when Charlie was eventually killed off, even people who disliked the character were offended by the Bury Your Gays gratuitousness of her death.
• Ho Yay: Dean helping Charlie flirt with the security guard.
  Dean: [to Sam] This never happened.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Charlie hacks into a political website and steals millions of dollars of other people's campaign contributions and then funnels their donations away to causes that she would prefer to support, which is obviously illegal and wrong, but she's presented as being a wonderful and heroic person for doing it because the campaign she steals from is conservative and therefore obviously "evil".
