• Alternate Character Interpretation: Commander Quinteros is not very helpful in recovering the Enterprise, which could be an indication that he was covertly offering the Bynars aid in their efforts.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Picard mentions that part of their reason for stopping is to fix the holodeck, with which they have been having some problems. Given later events...
  • Though clearly just a coincidence, Crusher's plan to combine cybernetics and regeneration actually comes across in retrospect like rather amusing foreshadowing of a particular cybernetic enemy known for their regenerative abilities.
• Padding: Riker picking every last detail of his holodeck program.

• Special Effects Failure : A minor one with the docking sequence, the model of the Ent-D used for the overmatting is the smaller two foot version (presumably as its was lighter and easier to shoot from the unusual angles required by the ST 3 footage). Unfortunately it was never designed to be seen in close up and its flaws (notably its oversized running lights and lack of illuminated windows) are very visible.
