YMMV / South Park S9 E6 "The Death of Eric Cartman"

• Aluminum Christmas Trees: Mr. Stotch warns Butters about Super AIDS which is real.
• Crosses the Line Twice:
  • "I'm not going to Heck, Butters. I'm not black."
  • Butters is forced into a mechanism that violently sodomizes him. As Butters screams out in pain, the doctor reassures his parents that they'll soon find out what traumatized their child.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Stan, Kyle, and Kenny reach their breaking point with Cartman in this episode and vow to ignore him from then on (with the rest of the kids following suit). At the end of "The Return of COVID", it's revealed that, in the future, everyone began ignoring Cartman on a much wider scale (and on a more permanent basis), including Butters (who was the only kid unaware of the plan to ignore Cartman in this episode).
• Informed Wrongness: While Cartman was rightfully depicted as the monster he is in this episode, one has to wonder about how he was depicted in his tiff with Miss Claridge. He absolutely owed her recompensation, but listing that as a reason he'll go to hell is a little unfair given the circumstances. First off, he's depicted as the only one at fault when Kyle, Stan, Kenny, and especially Trent Boyett are just as culpable for crippling her. Second, he was 4 years old, and it was an accident. Mrs. Claridge's reckless efforts of trying to put out the fire with a blanket rather than evacuate the school are the reason she ended up crippled, and Cartman even tried to extinguish her (granted by peeing on it, but he was 4). While, again, he does owe her recompense as he was involved in what led up to it, saying he should go to hell in this episode seems rather incomparable to his other atrocities given the circumstances.
• The Woobie:
  • Kenny breaks down sobbing after Cartman ate all the KFC chicken skin. Given his poor status, this is likely one of the rare times he would have gotten to eat KFC...and Cartman ruined it for him.
  • Butters tries his best to help Cartman, only to end up getting tortured in a mental asylum and receiving no gratitude from Cartman.
