• Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: Telling someone to kill themself would be an incredibly big Kick the Dog moment in fiction (let alone real life) ordinarily, and he doesn't commit any truly heinous crimes, but Dean is so unapologetically predatory on the elderly that he gets no sympathy or remorse when he not only receives such demands from Stan, but follows through with it.
• Moral Event Horizon: Dean crosses it by selling overpriced jewelry to people with Alzheimer's disease, exploiting them out of their life savings. Stan is so outraged by this that he calls up on his show to chew him out, and tells him with complete sincerity to kill himself.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Many fans were hoping that Stan and Cartman would fight in this episode, as it is a rare rivalry in the show, unlike Cartman fighting his usual enemies such as Kyle, Kenny, or Wendy. Instead, Stan only really cares about stopping the con man host of the jewelry network, and Cartman’s defeat is entirely separate.
