• Heartwarming in Hindsight: Mae Busch who played Lottie Hardy might have been angered by the Sons, but in the 70s a chapter of the Fan Club claimed her ashes and paid for her burial.
• Values Resonance: "Don't go behind your wife's back and lie to her" is a pretty basic moral, but one which has stood the test of time. The movie criticizes Ollie for having the audacity to continue to lie to his wife's face even when confronted with Implausible Deniability that he went to the Convention instead of Honolulu, and applauds Stan for being remorseful about going along with Ollie's scheme.
