YMMV / Skylanders: Trap Team

• Fountain of Memes: Just about nearly everything having to do with the Water villain Chill Bill. While interest in him was fairly quiet at launch, he soon grew in popularity over the years, receiving memes and edits featuring his promo art and catchphrase ("I aim to freeze!"). The interest in him is likely due to his incredibly catchy villain theme, which is stock music that has been featured in a few commercials in the past. Said theme has also been featured in a large number of memes and remixes as well.
• Good Bad Bugs: Hood Sickle's teleportation attack can be used as an exploit to bypass Elemental Gates without needing a Trap Master of the element required, including the Light and Dark gates even if they are currently counted as mystery elements.
• Scrappy Mechanic: Trap Masters being the only ones who can open Elemental Gates. When previous games allowed any Skylander to open gates, SWAP Force even having dual Elemental Gates that can be opened by two Skylanders and not just Swappers, for Trap Team to make them need a requirement in the form of new figures was seen by the fandom as a lazy attempt at squeezing more money out of consumers while also rendering the previous Skylanders pointless. It was especially annoying with the new Light and Dark elements, as they only had one Trap Master each as opposed to every other element having two.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Outside of the Doom Raiders and Kaos, many of the trappable villains are generic enemies, some of which the player will have already slaughtered by the hundreds by the time they reach the trappable version. Many fans lamented that popular bosses from the previous games, such as Drill-X or Mesmeralda, weren't brought back, especially since Chompy Mage was.
