- Covered Up:
- Linda Ronstadt's version of "Blue Bayou".
- "I Drove All Night" became associated with Cyndi Lauper when she covered it and scored a Top 10 hit in 1989. 14 years after that, it was revived by Céline Dion and became a hit on the adult-contemporary and dance charts.
- Epic Riff: He had a few, but the guitar riff from "Oh, Pretty Woman", as one of the most iconic in rock history, particularly stands out.
- First and Foremost: "Only The Lonely", "Crying", "Oh, Pretty Woman"
- Harsher in Hindsight: "Claudette" is one of the minority of Orbison's songs with a happy ending, referencing how "I'm gonna be so happy for the rest of my life, when my brand-new baby is my brand-new wife." Sweet — until one recalls that the titular Claudette, Orbison's first wife, died in a motorcycle accident. He would live another 22 less than perfectly happy years.
- Refrain from Assuming:
- "She's a Mystery to Me". What sounds like a Title-Only Chorus is actually an Album Title Drop; the song's title is the last line of each verse.
- "Oh, Pretty Woman" (or "Oh! Pretty Woman" depending on the album) is more usually known as "Pretty Woman".
