  • Upstaging The Beatles on a UK tour in 1963, which you'd think would be impossible. Or as Ringo Starr once put it:
Ringo: It was terrible, following Roy. He'd slay them and they'd scream for more.
    • As a bonus little factoid to this, Roy is the only artist to ever open for both Elvis Presley and the Beatles. Elvis - Elvis - once said Roy was the greatest singer in the world.
  • Leaving an audience in awed silence with a cover of "Indian Love Call."
  • As the story goes, while recording "Running Scared," he hit the climactic notes in falsetto, and found himself drowned out by the orchestra behind him. So on one take, he just belted it as hard as he could. The orchestra were so shocked that they stopped playing. The resulting master recording is, of course, a career highlight.
