YMMV / Rapa-Nui (1994)

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The film is almost laughably bad, but the soundtrack by Stewart Copeland is something else.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The Short Ears are mutinous and threaten to stop building moai, even stage a revolt, if they aren't provided with more food, while Tupa wants to just slaughter them. That's dramatic and also bad. Ariki-mau rolling his eyes and sighing in exasperation, complaining that he has no time for any of this, because he has chicken entrails to read? Hilarious.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: For whatever reason, the film took off in Germany, up to the point of spawning a card game titled Rapa Nui, with the card images taking cues from the movie.
  • Signature Scene: The long, extensive Birdman Race sequence. It lasts for 12 minutes and is by far the most memorable part of the whole movie.
