• Ass Pull: After Jessie is accidentally erased from reality, David returns to the present only to discover that he is now the prime suspect in her disappearance. No reason is given for this beyond the fact that he is her boyfriend, and seeing as she has literally vanished, the police have absolutely zero evidence against him apart from his house being the last place she visited. Therefore by the police's logic somehow he must be responsible, so they come out in full force looking for him in what is seemingly a city-wide manhunt with multiple squad cars and even a helicopter, kicking down his front door and chasing him to the school with guns drawn. It's not hard to see that this was only done to create some serious tension in the film's final act.
