- Ass Pull: The astronaut Wendy having wings. Justified and a case of Tropes Are Not Bad, since the whole thing is just Alley's weird imagination.
- Fridge Brilliance: Half of what Photopia is about will only hit you after a few play-throughs.

- That One Puzzle: The Maze. So much so that it's actually impossible to solve conventionally. You have to remove your suit and fly out. Of course, if you miss one line which casually mentions you have wings then it's possible for a player to spend hours looking for some brilliant and complex pattern to the ever changing paths to let them escape...(even the in game hints only suggests you need to try a more "vertical approach", which can lead you literally to climbing the walls, also impossible, trying to escape.)
