- Cliché Storm: The storyline uses seemingly every slasher and monster movie cliche known to man, with the only major subversions being the leader of the survivalist group seemingly getting set up as an important character, only to actually end up being the first member of the group to die, and then the film's infamous ending.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Cooter the town drunk. He may be a disgusting weirdo, but in a film filled with the blandest, most cookie-cutter stereotypes for characters, he's really the only character who brings any life into the plot, even if only briefly.
- Special Effect Failure:
- Instead of the usual method of shooting day-for-night, it's obvious that the crew just filmed the footage as normal, then darkened the footage and tinted it purple in post-production. This ends up making it extremely difficult to follow what's going on at times.
- The gore effects are a very mixed bag. A few of them are actually pretty realistic, but most of them look like someone picked up some plastic body parts at a joke shop, squirted some ketchup on them, and called it a day.
- The bigfoot suit itself. While they at least bothered with facial animatronics, the rest of the suit just looks like a cheap costume.
