• Jerkass Woobie: Alf doesn't have very many redeeming qualities. He's a bully, a hypocrite and a self-centered jerk... but he's also painfully aware that he's past his prime; his once great strength is failing and he's having problems keeping up with the times. On a number of occasions we see that he's Properly Paranoid that someone's going to kill him in order to become the next Alpha. It also doesn't help that he's a total dimwit who just doesn't have the brains to think of a new leadership style; shouting and bullying is all he knows how to do, and he is just smart enough to realize that it's only a matter of time before he'll no longer be able to keep it up.

• The Woobie: Newfangle might be a bit of an Insufferable Genius from time to time, but he really doesn't deserve all the abuse the series piles upon him.
