• Alternative Character Interpretation: When Charles starts helping the Harper kids and making up for Brett Harper's negligence, Brett's wife Leslie starts showing feelings for him which he doesn't seem to realize at first but then he starts getting closer to her while at the same time trying to mend the breach between her and Brett. Was he oblivious to Leslie's feelings for him or was she leading her on to get her to lower her guard and help her mend with her husband?
  • For that matter, Leslie's attraction to Charles: Wa she falling in love for her, or was she so ungry for love that she tried her luck with the first man to fill the void for her husband?
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • This episodes involves a husband who nearly loses his family to alcoholism, which is caused by the tragic death of their older son. A few seasons later, a major character, Mr. Edwards, would go through the exact same situation (his and Brett's daughter are even played by the same actress, Kyle Richards), but unlike here, he wouldn't be able to save his marriage and Charles would eventually give up on him (at least at first).
  • Bobby Rolofson, who plays the son whose older brother died in a ride accident, died at the age of sixteen in a motorcycle accident.
• Questionable Casting: Kyle Richards is brought back after her latest appearance in the Season 3 finale as a completely different character. While the show often reused actors for different one-shot characters, it's odd that they'd bring back someone who used to play a recurring character (who'd still make 2 more appearances as Alicia).
