  • Angst? What Angst?:
    • After receiving a letter from Laura and Almanzo informing that Rose is missing and they will be going after whoever took her away, Jenny is seen praying for their success, but otherwise seems to be perfectly enjoying her Christmas with the Carters, despite the fact that her baby cousin was abducted.
    • This episode is set between the events of "Look Back to Yesterday", when Albert was diagnosed with a terminal disease and "The Last Farewell". Assuming that Albert is already gone by this point, this would be Laura's first Christmas since she lost her brother, whom she was particularly close to growing up. If that's the case, she doesn't show it.
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
  • Heartwarming Moments: This being a Christmas Special, there are quite a few:
    • After dismissing Christmas traditions of giving presents and making Christmas trees, Mr. Montague is touched by Jason's giving a pine tree branch he'd choped down to sell and use the money to buy her mother a scarf. So he later shows up at the Carters' dressed as Santa Claus, with presents for each of them, including the scarf Jason wanted to give his mother, essentially saving their Christmas. Sarah later goes after him,
Sarah: Santa! (Just in case Jason was overhearing) If you find Mr. Montague, tell him we love him (and then kisses him in the face.)
  • After Elsa Norris confesses to having stolen Jane to her husband Patrick when the Wilders and Mr. Edwards show up, he hugs her and says he understands if they want to press charges, but Laura and Almanzo reassure them that they won't, understanding that her state of grief caused her to act out of her mind.
  • Patrick Norris helping them look for the orphan boy who tagged along with them, and later he and his wife agreeing to adopt him.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Laura never mentions how she was once kidnapped by a grieving mother who wanted to replace her child when she was a kid, and this traumatic experience never resurfaces even when she's alone with Rose's kidnapper while their husbands are looking for the missing kid who tagged along with them.
