YMMV / Legends of Tomorrow S2E8 "The Chicago Way"

• Alternative Character Interpretation: Why is Malcolm in the Legion? Thawne and Darhk are in because they revel being evil and like power. But Merlyn's deal with Sara about letting the Queen's Gambit go on its cruise uninterrupted suggests that he's less interested in playing God and more interested in fixing his mistakes — saving Rebecca and Tommy. Perhaps literally losing everything in Season 4 of Arrow — control of the League of Assassins, the remainder of Thea's love, being forced to become a thug — finally made him regret his choices?
• Catharsis Factor: Seeing Sara beating the crap out of Malcolm, who orchestrated her murder and indirectly contributed to Laurel's death, and holding a knife to his throat is incredibly satisfying for people who were pissed off at him during Season 3 and 4 of Arrow. Doubles as Take That, Scrappy!, as this is the second time the previously Invincible Villain receives an undignified defeat.
• Fridge Brilliance: The device that Thawne uses to disguise as Stein looks different than it did in "Tricksters," because it probably is a different device. That one permanently altered the user's DNA to be that of its victim while simultaneously killing its victim, whereas this one isn't quite as creepy, as it only provides the user a temporary disguise while keeping the target still intact.
• Like You Would Really Do It: The Reveal that Stein has been replaced by Thawne would seem to imply—based on Season 1 of The Flash—that Stein has been killed and replaced, but it's unlikely a core member of the cast would be killed off so anticlimactically (and with the story arc of his daughter just beginning to come into light). Additionally, many were skeptical that Thawne would now permanently wear the face of Stein, especially since Matt Letscher is a core member of the cast this season.
