- Awesome Music: The soundtrack of this game in general was superior to many other games of its time, but the themes from stages 1 and 3 and the Earwig boss battle song stick out as examples.
- Nightmare Fuel: One boss is a ship that shoots eyeballs at you. There's also the Womb Level-ish Minus Stage whose meaty walls have open mouths and hearts as decorations.
