Keima allowed the bandits to continue their illegal activities, including raping of little girls, mainly because it'd be inconvenient to his DP gains and survivability. This turned a lot of readers off from the series, who felt the protagonist took the Lazy Bum trope too far. Another camp believes he didn't really have a choice, since he lacked the DP income to get rid of them himself.
