  • Fair for Its Day: Many of the movies she reviews were once considered progressive milestones in queer cinema, but have aged poorly.
    • Different From The Others, a silent picture from Weimar Republic, was revolutionary for its time, but seems melodramatic by today's standards. Conrad Veidt's resemblance to The Joker (which is unsurprising- he visually inspired the Joker) doesn't help.
    • Philadelphia is probably the most iconic example of this. Andy has very little personality beyond The Woobie, and is given very few scenes with his partner. Joe, the supposed Audience Surrogate is so rampantly homophobic that gay friendly audiences would probably have a hard time identifying with him.
