YMMV / In Rainbows

  • Awesome Art: The cover art, which manages to combine what looks like an explosion in space (apparently the end result of longtime Radiohead collaborator Stanley Donwood throwing wax at paper and dunking prints into acid baths) with jagged overlaid text to create something that somehow perfectly represents the album: abstract yet colorful, grandiose yet comprehensible, with a level of vibrance and explosiveness not seen in any other album cover by the band before or since.
  • Awesome Music: The whole album is great, but "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" and "Jigsaw Falling into Place" stand out especially. The second disc included in some versions is also full of great music.
  • Epileptic Trees: Tons of it, much of which has been encouraged by the band itself. Just take a look at the 01 and 10 playlist. Many fans feel this playlist makes the album even better.
  • Gateway Series: The album is often considered an excellent starting point for Radiohead among fans, owing to its Lighter and Softer direction compared to most of their other works and its comparatively accessible sound that still shows off their diversity and musical strengths.
  • Win Back the Crowd: Following the mixed reactions to their previous album Hail To The Thief, In Rainbows was considered by both fans and critics as a major return to form for the band, and became their biggest seller worldwide. The hype surrounding the 'pay-as-you-want' marketing strategy seems to have a played a big part in this.
