• Anvilicious:
  • The story is very, very heavy-handed with its depictions of bullying and discrimination based on disability and how it affects the mental states of those targeted by it.
  • The story is extremely pro-LGBT rights, going so far as to change the sexualities of multiple characters and inserting bisexual and transgender Original Characters. Chapter 23 in particular focuses on transphobia and feelings of acceptance, beating Bakugou's (and the reader's) head with it.
• Arc Fatigue: 23 chapters in and the protagonists still aren't attending U.A.
• The Woobie: Izuku, as usual. On top of being Quirkless, he's also missing an arm and an eye, and is left with intense scarring years after the incident. His spine is damaged so that he can only limp around at best, and his disabilities are making others pity him and look down upon him, calling him worthless and telling him to give up on his dreams. To prove them wrong, he's willing to create experiment bionic implants on himself, which often involves excruciating pain that he constantly tries to downplay to keep his loved ones from worrying, all the while things can potentially go horribly wrong if he were to ever make a miscalculation.
