- Faux Symbolism: The alien=trans metaphor isn't really consistent, leading some readers to be confused about whether the prejudice was meant to be transphobia, or a combination between transphobia and racism. All of the transphobic remarks are implied to be happening because Taylor is an alien, which would be closer to racism.
