• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Despite the game being her debut, and despite the possibilities inherent to being both a sensible advisor and a powerful magician (Emeralia being revealed after the fact to be a bit of a one-trick pony when it comes to magic whose true talents lie in politics and statecraft), Nellis spends most of the first half of the story as an Extreme Doormat and pawn of the leaders of Lingobard and the second half of the story doing nothing in prison, with Argent getting the lion's share of Character Development and focus in comparison throughout the game. This is to say nothing of fellow debuting love interest Queen Aphrodia, who is definitely the primary dramatic and romantic focus of her portions of the game. Nellis’s romance with Lute thus comes off as perfunctory and underdeveloped.
