  • Awesome Music:
    • Several of the game's songs are Hip-Hop tracks with main vocals written and performed by Xalavier Nelson Jr, making it sound as if James Savage is rapping about the events he's going through during the game. Standouts includes STAY AWAKE (played during Djebe's boss fight, the menacing BREAK SHIT, the upbeat and darkly humorous HUMAN SUNDAE, and the climatic INTERVIEW 38.
    • The second-to-last stage, where James is exhausted and keeps moving through sheer momentum alone, is scored with "To Believing."
  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: The majority of critical reviews agree that the gameplay is okay at best, with the main strengths being its story, voice acting and soundtrack.
  • Spiritual Successor: To the original Max Payne, or more broadly, to many of the console action games that followed in Max Payne's wake.
