  • Angst Aversion: Many BitLife fans who embrace the realism and Video Game Cruelty Potential when playing as a human are put off by that tone being applied to dogs. By the nature of being a pet, you have less control over what happens in your life, which results in many cruel scenarios happening out of your control, often forcing the player to become a mean pet just to protect themselves. Playing as a dog with the potential to be sadistically abused, including being thrown in the garbage or randomly put down despite being perfectly healthy, is too distressing for many animal lovers to download the game.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: A common criticism of this game and CatLife is that all of the content can be experienced in less than an hour for both games.
  • Squick: Mating encounters can give details on whether both parties climaxed or how long the "knot" lasted, which is uncomfortable to picture when playing as a non-anthropomorphized dog. It's even worse when you can mate with your offspring.
