  • Retroactive Recognition: Doreen is played by Pauline Quirke, who would later be best known for playing Sharon Theodopolopodous in Birds of a Feather.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Eileen's inner monologue at her wedding has her wistfully wish her father were still alive, and she later breaks down in tears in her husband's arms, crying hysterically that she wants her dad. Even though Tommy was an awful husband and father, and Eileen is the only one who really mourns his loss due to his abusive behavior to the other family members, it's still a painful scene, and resonates with anyone who lost a parent before an important life event, even if the relationship was difficult and complicated.
    • In contract, Tony privately breaks down in tears at his own wedding, though it's unknown as to whether it's related to grief over his father, sadness about leaving his mother, or just plain depression over his slew of downbeat life events.
    • Tommy's horrifically realistic abuse of Nell, which leads her shaken and silent.
