• Critic-Proof: The film did fairly well at the box office despite being one of the worst-reviewed of the year, with critics condemning it for distasteful subject matter and crude and bigoted humor, and some even describing it as one of the worst films they had seen in their career.
• Critical Dissonance: The movie was very, very harshly panned by professional critics (some of whom claimed it was one of the worst movies they had ever seen) but audiences were more charitable, as the film (at time of writing) has a 5.9 on [IMDb].
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Robert De Niro's character Dick ends up marrying a younger woman and having a baby with her. Fast forward to 2023 and De Niro himself is becoming a father again despite being in his late 70's.
• The Scrappy: Pam. The character was clearly designed to be the big scene stealing fan favorite, but wound up being one of the most hated parts of the movie due to being a horribly obnoxious asshole who shamelessly and openly breaks the law but never once gets even a hint of punishment.
