  • Awesome Art: As shown in the Characters page, the books following the first one include official art by kaiju-artist legends like Matt Frank and Alex Gayhart.
  • Iron Woobie: Every single host has a lot of emotional baggage (with the exception of Yata), and the series constantly finds ways to provoke their most negative feelings. Yuki and Allie in particular are put through Hell in their respective trilogies, with one being a PTSD-laden soldier and the other a woman haunted by a malevolent destroyer.
  • LGBT Fanbase: The series' unashamed depiction of healthy lesbian/gay relationships did not go unnoticed by readers.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Frank Houston crossed it when he condemned a Laurentian town to being the bait for a scheme to demoralize the Pantheon via tricking them into destroying the nearby military stronghold and the town in the process.
    • Enofe Chuk mercilessly massacred a whole tribe of giant mountain gorillas that Akuma was studying. And he got away with that one due to the lack of evidence presented.
    • Captain Faro was already a horrible trafficker and pirate, but he also forced Pirangon into becoming his puppet for oceanic domination.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Mokwa. A giant near-indestructible bear who couldn't bear seeing her children drown, and hibernated for centuries hoping they would come back.
    • Pirangon, for being mind-controlled into serving evil pirates for countless years after being split into a swarm of eels. He's a destroyer, but it's a pitiful fate.
