• Aluminum Christmas Trees: Though it may seem like an insult that's meant to put Joe down, Uncle Kevin's claim about Bela Lugosi being a dope addict is true, as his addiction was dramatized in Ed Wood.
• Catharsis Factor: After spending the episode being an abusive and pathetic asshole, Kevin getting his comeuppance by being beaten up and torn in half by Joe's life-size monster "friends" is insanely satisfying.
• The Woobie: Joe, pushed around by his abusive uncle and a neighborhood bully before and after his kindly mother succumbs to cancer.
