YMMV / Contra: Operation Galuga

• Ass Pull: Java suddenly appearing out of nowhere and serving as the Final Boss after Varanis kicked the bucket felt rather tacked on at the last minute, as there was literally no Foreshadowing or build-up to encountering Java, though the closest we could get to build-up was fighting the giant heart at the end of Stage 4. According to Tomm Hulett, the fake-out was inspired by how in the original, you fought Java but the game kept going after defeating his head until you reached his heart.
• I Knew It!: Some fans speculated that Bradley, whose name is Brad for short, and has metal arms, is none other than Brad Fang from Contra: Hard Corps before becoming a werewolf. The post-credits cutscene confirms this.
• Spiritual Successor: Due to the art style, the game is basically Contra: Returns if it's a traditional game instead of a freemium.
• That One Level: Stage 6. The area is filled to the brim with flamethrowers and green orbs that shoot out endlessly, not to mention the stone guardians that you have to destroy two or three times to defeat. There are also crystals that appear in spots where you can't see your character, but they don't always show what is ahead of you, and often show the reflection upside-down and sideways, which can be very disorienting.
