• Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: In-universe, Valentina comments that she doesn't hate Davie Cavalcanti- she's terrified of him, but she can sort of get how he got the way he is. She does hate Addi Arcuri, however, because Addi outed her as being related to an organised crime family, thus destroying Valentina's social life, and Valentina had no recourse that wouldn't confirm it and/or end with Addi dead. Addi had no reason to do that, nobody made her do it and she wasn't sorry at all, so Valentina genuinely hates her for it.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • In The Point 1.7, Mia finds out that one of her and Carson's old contacts was captured, had three of their limbs plus genitals cut off, eyes and one eardrum perforated, and chose to kill themselves via brain contusion rather than be left alive for whatever else their captors had in store for them. As Mia puts it, he was lucky he got to die. Valentina reveals that her father has had this done to people quite a few times, and seeing the results is why she fled, understandably.
  • Tyr's backstory. His parents lived in an apartment building where the people on the top floor made snuff films. Tyr's parents sold their first three children to the 'filmmakers' when they turned eighteen, and the fourth when he was sixteen. Had the building not burned down when Tyr was a baby, he almost certainly would have met the same fate; as it was, his parents escaped the building with Tyr, but were content to walk away and leave the baby outside the building without caring what happened to him.
