- Values Resonance: Arguably a big part of why the story has been adapted so many times: its central joke resonates a lot with modern-day discourse about wealth inequality, demonstrating that it's actually really difficult for ultra-wealthy people to spend all of their money within one lifetime (and raising the question of why anyone could ever possibly need all of that money).
