• Tainted by the Preview:
  • Kevin Hart, a comic actor known for his short stature, being cast as the taller, more serious Roland did not sit well with the die hard fans.
  • Cate Blanchett, who'll be 55 at the time of the film's release, being cast as Lilith, who was 22 in the original game^note 27 in the second game, 32 in the third, raised some eyebrows. The general reaction to her role in the trailer is that her acting and comic timing are good, but she still looks too old for the part.
  • Jack Black as Claptrap has received some flak as well since he's only a voice-acting role for an animated character, with his voice being edited to sound closer to Claptrap's high-pitched voice in the game series. The result is that you can hardly recognize Jack Black, which render his Stunt Casting useless.
  • Seemingly from YouTube comments and reactions, this can apply to everyone seen in the trailer with a lot of complaints of almost every character being casted by producers looking for well known actors over those who resemble the characters.
