  • Alternative Character Interpretation: When Hunter sentences Delos to death for treason, Maggie notes that he briefly looks genuinely sad and regretful before his expression hardens. Is Hunter just upset that his great-grandson turned out to be a disappointment and he's losing a valuable ally? Or is he sorrowful over losing yet another heir and the last living memory of his estranged son, especially given that it's only been a few months since his final living child Lily was killed? Maybe both?
  • Fanfic Fuel:
    • Given Delos has spent the first seventeen years of his life in a kingdom that resembles the medieval period, with barely any contact with the outside world, one wonders how he'd react to modern society?
    • The revelation that the Dark Kingdom's founder, Chervil Redfern, was the long-lost son of Hunter Redfern. It raises questions such as what exactly caused their huge falling out that led to Chervil running off, and who Chervil's mother was and what happened to her (given Hunter was available to marry Maeve Harman by the 17th century).
  • Ho Yay: Some of Maggie and Cady's interactions can give off romantic vibes (especially from Maggie's end). When Maggie first meets her, one of the first things she remarks is how beautiful Cady is, and she waxes lyrical about her features, including comparing her to an Egyptian queen at one point. Maggie also states that when Cady looks at her, despite her blindness she gets the feeling she's been "seen more clearly than she ever had" (unbeknownst to Maggie, this is due to Cady's powers). Maggie refuses to abandon Cady despite her illness threatening her own chances of escape; when Cady tells her she should save herself, Maggie adamantly refuses, bringing Cady to tears. When Maggie is trying to fight off Bern alone, Cady – sick as she is – tries to rise from her hiding place to aid her. Maggie also insists on letting Cady have the last of the water and snaps at Delos that she isn't weak, just sick. Maggie risks her life to get medicine for Cady and shields her when some of the slaves want to kill her as a witch. When she finds out Cady's real name is Aradia, she thinks to herself what a pretty name it is.
