YMMV / Big Finish Doctor Who 012 The Fires Of Vulcan

• Fridge Logic: It takes the Doctor three episodes to think of the solution that the listener may well come up with immediately. He is under a lot of pressure, though, and in fairness loses access to the TARDIS for most of the story so that even if he did think of it, he couldn't do anything about it.
• Harsher in Hindsight: In the light of the Tenth Doctor story "The Fires of Pompeii", the Seventh's line about the volcano being nothing to do with him comes over a lot differently. And given what happened to everybody they met or befriended in this episode, the Doctor's insistence that he can't save anyone in that episode hits even harder. He knows he can't save them, because he's tried and failed before. (And to rub salt in the wound, it turns the dilemma into the exact sort of You Can't Fight Fate scenario that the Doctor is afraid of in this story: Ten can't save the people of Pompeii because Seven already saw what happened.)
