• Ho Yay: Oliver's longing look at Slade walking off into the steam...Felicity's "happy ending" comment...
• Salvaged Story: As much as Slade was a fan-favorite in season 2 as a character and a villain, some felt that his motivation for wanting Oliver dead was a little flimsy; after all, the real Shado was never his girlfriend, and it was sometimes expressed that "the Mirakuru made Slade insane" was little better than a Hand Wave. However, this episode shows that Slade saw hallucinations of Shado egging him on to get revenge on Oliver for years. That would be enough to make anyone insane.
