- Bizarro Episode: Jake wakes up in a Bad Future, finds all the other Animorphs in no state to fight back, fights against a Yeerk plot to turn the Moon into a Kandrona emitter, and then wakes up back in his bed where a higher being that isn't the Ellimist, Crayak, or the One comments on what he did in that future. The details of the Bad Future are wildly inconsistent, and the plot of this book is confusing and adds nothing to the greater story.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: There was already a briefer look at a Bad Future in Animorphs: The Stranger, while Animorphs: Back to Before showed an alternate timeline in a very similar way to this, starting with Jake being approached by the Drode and ending with him back in his bed. This could have had a more coherent plot. The Anti-Morphing Ray's effects blanketing the city and somehow not fully affecting Jake would have easily explained why morphing doesn't seem to be an option, for example.
