What An Idiot / Adastra (2018)

Go To

Adastra (2018)

Beware of unmarked spoilers.

  • It seems like Poor Communication Kills runs in the Adastran royal family.
    • Cato has staged the third trial, resulting in Cassius being elected emperor of Adastra illegitimately. Neferu, Marco and Virginia concoct a plan to get Cassius to Abdicate the Throne. The latter two then go to Cassius to blackmail him into doing so.
You'd Expect: For them to ask Cassius to speak to them in private, and keep Alexios out of earshot, who has by now been confirmed to be a spy and saboteur.
Instead: They just flat out ask Cassius to abdicate in the throne room, with Alexios in full view.
You'd Then Expect: That Marco and/or Virginia would make note of the cat in the room and threaten Alexios to keep quiet (given that he's a Dirty Coward who easily gets intimidated, as proven afterwards when Marco confronts him alone after the events listed below, this might've been be an effective solution) or at the very least convince him that bringing this info to Cato could put him and his own wolf in harms way, so being quiet may be the best course of self-preservation.
Instead: Neither do any of this and just leave without making sure they have Alexios' silence.
As A Result: Alexios blabs about the affair to Cato, who, the next day, proceeds to poison Cassius, pin the blame on Marco, and forcibly takes Virginia as his bride-to-be. His first order as Emperor is to order the execution of Neferu.
Even Worse For Him: Alexios quickly realizes how much of an idiotic idea it was for him to snitch, as he ends up experiencing the terrifying sight of his love interest nearly die (making this the only time he was upset about someone getting hurt by his sabotage besides himself), gets violently punched across the room after screaming at Cato about how he went too far and later is found by Marco worryingly lamenting that he might soon be executed by Cato next (which does sound like something Cato would've done had he not been killed off).
    • Marco is sleeping peacefully in his bedroom in Rome. He has some weird dreams. When he wakes up, the first thing he sees is a muscled wolf man implanting something in his eye. Amicus tries to make his case.
You'd Expect: For Amicus to calmly introduce himself, explain where he is from, and what he needs Marco's assistance for.
Instead: They bicker and he tases Marco without further explanation.
As a result: Marco gets kidnapped and taken to Adastra.
