Tropes:
- Framing Device: The video shows Twilight Sparkle, in a canyon, singing about the story in Spanish, whilst looking up to the moon.
- Lunacy: The song (which translates to "Son of the Moon" in Spanish) is a murder ballad about a Romani mare named Crystal Ball who agrees to give Princess Luna her firstborn foal if the Princess grants her wish for a husband. After they marry, their son's ermine-white coat and gray eyes make the husband, named Cinnamon Roll, think he is not the father. He then kills his wife and abandons the colt in the mountains. The song ends claiming that the moon is full when the child is in a good mood, and wanes to make him a cradle if he cries.
- Mistaken for Cheating: When Cinnamon Roll sees that Crystal Ball has given birth to an albino colt, he is furious and thinks she had cheated on him.
- Parental Abandonment: After he murders Crystal Ball, Cinnamon Roll abandons the baby in the mountains. Soon afterwards Luna comes by and picks the colt up.
