- This movie exists in same universe as Blade Runner. The "clones" are just like Replicants. Not every area on Blade Runner Earth is a blasted urban dystopia. Ted Danson's character is clearly a wealthy former Tyrell Corporation scientist who was fired for his twisted experiments in seeing if his replicants could supplant actual living people in their own lives. He now continues his work on his luxurious private estate.
